I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the San Diego State University.
Prior to SDSU, I was Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the School of Computing and Information Science (SCIS) at the University of Maine. I received the 2022 NSF CAREER Award, 2023 Maine College of Engineering and Computing (MCEC) Early Career Research Award, and the nomination of 2022 and 2024 Supervisor of the Year. Prior to UMaine, I was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I have also held appointments in Brazil and Italy.
Research Interests:
Reliable and safe artificial intelligence, Machine learning algorithms, Design, improvement, and analysis of deep learning techniques with an emphasis on efficiency and robustness, Domain adaptation and knowledge transfer, Mathematical analysis of continual learning methods, Adversarial learning, Multi-tasks learning problems, Multimodal learning with transformers, Graph summarization, Data mining, and High-dimensional network structure learning.
Practical applications of AI in real-world problems including robotic, human-in-the-loop supervision, hyperspectral imaging, safe transportation, forestry-ocean science, and health care.
Note to Prospective students:
I am always looking for prospective students and post-docs with a strong mathematical
background who are interested in working in theoretical and practical aspects of machine learning. Information for prospective students can be found on the Sekeh lab page.
